For years, starting during lockdown, an obsessive image of 6 equal dots, like that of a dice, has haunted my mind. I do not know why, but the dots keep spontaeously appearing in my work, often serving as a base, around which other shapes form.
This was the case in this painting, Two Tides, which came together very naturally and immediately, almost as if I could see the strokes before I put them down, cenetring around the dots. It appears as if two streams of matter flow from the centre, like opposing tides.
Sold as a limited edition mounted print, produced from an ultra-high-resolution scan of the original 2021 gouache painting.
The scan captures every layer of texture and marks across the surface of the work.
